About the author:

As “The Fish Vet”, Dr Richmond Loh and his team across Australia provide veterinary, and
pathology services for a range of clients including pet fish, display aquaria, retailers and fish farmers.
He has been admitted to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists by
examinations in the subjects of Pathobiology, and Aquatic Animal Health. He is a Certified Aquatic
Veterinarian and has been awarded the George Alexander International Fellowship by the
International Specialised Skills Institute.

Hello Dr. Loh,
I have a placidochromis electra that I think has a tumour on his lower jaw and have been treating him for the last 4 weeks and its just getting worse. I have been treating him in a tank with 5 ppt marine salt the whole time. Week one I was giving him 30 minute dips in 25 ppt salt. Week two I used Kanaplex. Week three I tried metronidazole. Week four I used API Melafix. I am concluding the he should be culled quite likely. Admittedly I don’t really know what I’m doing although I do know I’m trying. I’m considering trying to surgically remove it although I am not a doctor. I wonder if there’s a way for me to send you a picture of his mouth for me to know whether there is any hope. I live in Canada and found you on YouTube. I really enjoy your channel and think it’s a great service to the world. Thank you in advance

  We have mobile fish vets in Perth (WA), Melbourne/Brunswick (Victoria), Sydney/Bankstown (NSW) and Duffy (ACT); and aquatic specialists in Townsville (Qld). Internationally, we have fish veterinarians in London (UK) and Hong Kong.
  
  For practical and legal reasons, a veterinarian cannot determine what your problems are, offer a diagnosis or suggest any treatments, without actually seeing a patient in person. Thus, we are unavailable for consults outside these areas.
