  1. Sorry but that is not a perfect blood smear… should be 2/3 length of slide and should not come off the end

    1. I agree with you that you should always start off with a small drop of blood to make the smear. However, in cases where the initial drop of blood is a bit on the generous side, then the lift and streak technique I’ve shown works very well to create a monolayer zone and a feathered edge. You can’t always be as precise when working in the field as compared to in a lab.
