After much demand for more fish vets in different locations, next week we’re establishing a fish veterinarian representative in the Sydney/Gosford area.
Meet Dr Lucie Nedved, who is a small animal veterinarian with a special interest in aquatic species. She currently manages a large zebrafish facility in Sydney including overseeing the veterinary care and breeding programs. She has experience with aquatic species including fish, amphibians and reptiles as well as specialised experience in artificial breeding of zebrafish including in-vitro fertilization and sperm freezing. She is a member of the Zebrafish Husbandry Association and regularly contributes to meetings involving aquatic species in the laboratory animal setting. Dr Nedved lectures regularly at The University of Sydney and The University of NSW.
We welcome her to not just any fish vet team, but The Fish Vet’s Team.
We are available to take bookings from this Sunday (4 December) onwards.

From time to time, fish can go off feed, sometimes for unknown reasons. It is important to start giving nutritional support within 1-2 weeks if fish stop eating.
In this case, our catfish patient also developed buoyancy disorder, floating at the top of the tank.
In this video, we demonstrate the procedure for force-feeding fish, and aspiration of excess gas from its swimbladder, along with other medical support.
