Netflix’s SEASPIRACY, a conspiraSEA?

Many who have watched this show ask me a lot of questions about the legitimacy of the alarming material presented in the show.

It does raise some salient points, and some are out of context and some are incorrect.

A webinar all about buoyancy disorders in fish by Doctor Loh, The Fish Vet.

Does your fish float or sink uncontrollably?

With thanks to the Australian Veterinary Association, they have requested me to address this topic.

Overview

Buoyancy disorders are not uncommon in various fish species. Hyperbuoyancy (positively buoyant) leads to fish floating at the water surface, and hypobuoyancy (negatively buoyant) results in fish sinking to the tank floor. We explore the reasons that make fish float or sink, such as swim bladder disease, gut pathology and many other causes. The sequelae to such conditions can be acutely severe, and we open up discussion on the various methods to treat and prevent this condition.
